I bought the OAT digital temp guage a few years back. It was never accurate. Didn't matter whether it was hot or cold. I thought I just got a lemon so I bought a second one. I set the two guages next to one another on a table in a room with a digital thermostat control for the room. It registered the same as an old fashioned mercury thermometer. The two OAT guages gave varying temperatures that never matched the digital and mercury devices, (with neither of the OATs giving the same readout, although one was a little closer to the digital and mercury than the other). If you are going to be flying in a climate where you run the risk of flying in icing coniditions, I would not trust these devices when it comes to having a reasonably accurate measurement of the temperature. Go with the old probe style.
