Bruce,
Your airp[lane has had at least two off airport emergency landings that resulted in substantial damage. One in '65 and one in '77. I would bet that the last paint job was probably concurrent with the 77 incedent as it was attributed to poor maint. proceedures in the FAA record. Check the books around that time for some clue to the repaint perhapse.
