Blog part 39 on paint job and annual

Oct 22, 2008: Did you hear the shouts of JOY?

Can you see me dancing on the ramp? And skipping in the grocery store?

I AM SO EXCITED! – high pitched almost shouting volume intended.

N3322G flies again … AND I still remember how to be a pilot.

I’ll be darned if I didn’t get lucky or good – take your pick and greased both no-brake-centerline landings.

I can hardly sit still. I have a lot to blog and pictures to post and taking a page form the evening news – it involves a fire in the hangar today, being overcome by fumes yesterday and an incredibly clear flight to the Rickenbacker ramp and a dozen mechanics coming out to the ramp and telling me that this is the most beautiful Twin Comanche they have ever seen.

Bear with me as I have to pack me, pre-pack Ken and the Twin and basically move back to Texas. I haven’t seen my house since Aug 15. I promised to take the drive home in a 2-day increment instead of the ‘bad dog’ previous performance of doing 15:37 and 1017 miles in one day. I will leave tomorrow so expect to hear from me in the near future.

Anyone who gets close to DFW or 52F or AFW, you are welcome to see it in person.

Of course I wiped it off tonight – took a whole 4 pieces of old T-shirt – each about the size of my hand.

Time for celebration pizza and then work – hope everything for you is as well as it is for me today – Ken too but he’s more mellow about it – you know, like a typically cool guy. It’s one of the many reasons I love him so much.

Wishing all Blue Skies and Tailwinds,

Pat Keefer ICS 08899

Tale of the Great Paint Job

Postby Dale Vandever » Sun Oct 26, 2008 3:11 pm

Pat, thanks so very much for your wonderful description of what goes into a real quality paint job.

I'm sure that new members will be benefiting from your work twenty years from now.

We will need to have a "welcome home" look see at Brenham.

Blue Bell is on me.

Reading your last blog felt just as difficult as closing the book after having read the last page of Harry Potter no 7

Pat, thanks once again for spending so much time and effort to let the Comanche world know about the intricacies of a paint job!

I'm looking forward to the condensed "official" reports.

So Pat, this went so well, we are all awaiting your next blog. Engines or upholstery, your choice.

Seriously, as others have already posted, excellent blog and we look forward to seeing you, Ken , and new baby, at the maint seminar in Clifton. Sounds like I'll be in the air again by then. Engine left for a visit with Charlie at Zephyr today, with prop, aileron, and flap leaving for rehab soon.
