CPPP Clinic

CPPP Clinic

Couple of weeks ago Zach Grant and Dennis Carew came to Paine Field Everett WA and did a CPPP Clinic.

If you ever get the chance to participate in one of these don't hesitate. DO IT! Even if you have to fly for a day to get there. One guy came from Canada, 2 came from Oregon and the rest of us came from WA.

Zach had me do and introduced me to manuevers in my PA30 that I didn't think either were possible or that I could do. Landing at 65 mph, rapid descents, one engine go arounds, we did numerous VMC entries and recoveries, slow flight, puled engines on take offs, I have never let another instructor do this with me because of thier lack of Comanche experience but with Zach in the right seat GO FOR BABY. I kept asking him when are we going to go upside down. I wanted to experience what Al Powers did on his intro flight to a Twin Comanche back in 66. But Zach said we wouldn't go there. I have never felt safer in a plane then to have Zach there with me doing these manuevers.

The class room sessions were filled with valuable information coming from both Zach and Dennis and the note books and binders that you get when you participate in a clinic.

It doesn't get any better for a Comanche junkie than to be surrounded by others with 2 instructors of the caliber of Zach and Dennis. The weekend went by way too fast.

Along with the classroom instruction flight review they looked my PA30 over with their eagle eyes and tugged here pushed there and gave a few suggestions.

There is nothing but upside for participating in one of these clinics. Their hope is to return to locations once a year and if so I will be back and anxious to fly with Zach again.

For heavens sake all of you weekend flyers who get 50-100 hours a year like myself don't miss out on a opportunity like this. The little tricks these guys can teach you that are Comanche specific are priceless.

DO IT!

40 years of flying the twin and still, it is always good to practice. Ken and I have signed up for the Lancaster TX session in the fall.
