Well, to Scott, Pat and Kristen, let me know if there is anything going on that needs help. Can't claim Comanche expertise (beyond a year's worth of driving one and keeping it going...along with a dozen years in other Piper equipment) but do have some technical and engineering resources at my disposal, along with a bit of fundraising background. How relavent it is, I can't say for sure. Drop me a line at tom@sensorstar.com if there's anything cooking .
ICS concerns, as I understand them, are:
1. Going to an online publication would possibly hurt membership to the point that it could be an overal net-negative financial outcome.
2. Raising membership fees would possibly hurt membership to the point that it could be an overall net-negative financial outcome.
3. It's not entirely clear that resources devoted to type support would provide a benefit beyond what the volunteers currently provide.
I would think that if #1 could somehow be demonstrated to be a non-issue, #2 wouldn't be necessary immediately, and #3 could be tested within ICS. Maybe I have rose colored glasses, but I'd bet that something could be devised to demonstrate #1 to everybody's satisfaction....and the preliminaries to that wouldn't require direct investment of time or energy by ICS.
Or, not...
