RTW (Round the World) Twin Comanches

Don,

I have duplicated my answer to Tribe Chief Don Ostergard's post on another thread about Don Fonger's RTW flight so comments can be posted here.

I knew about 6 trips but your post prompted me to look further and now I know about 10. I have a signed copy on Fonger's book that was a gift and an unsigned one I purchased.

www.earthrounders.com keeps a list . It is not always complete but a very good start. Note that Twins is one list and Air Races is a second list.

1971 Patricio Milmo and Jesus Delgado
1987 Don Fonger and son Jim Fonger
1987 Tal Talibi and Ken Bamford
1991 RJ Plimpton
1992 Dick Levin & Dan Boone
1992 World Race Gérard & Christiane
1992 World Race Marion Jayne and daughter Nancy Palozola, 2nd
1994 World Race Marion Jayne and daughter Patricia Jayne Keefer, FAI Gold Medal
2001 London-Sydney Air Race Denise Water and various copilots or none
2002 Cpt. Dick Sollner & Cpt. Bill Moore

I am fortunate to own the 1992/1994 world race N3322G Twin. It would be great fun to be in contact with other RTW Twin owners.

If anyone knows of more flights, please post them here. Thanks.

Pat, as you know, Patricio Milmo attended the Clifton Fly-In and passed on to me a manuscript of his RTW trip while at the Clifton Fly-In. As soon as I get caught up again, I plan to read it and either summarize it for publication and or put it in a PDF file for all interested to view. Standby, I'll get to it as soon as I can. I too was amazed at the list of members belonging to this elite club that you were able to find in your research. And I'm proud to say that at least two of them, both you and Patricio, are ICS members, not to mention, SC Tribe members. Kudos to the both of you and all the others that belong to that club.

As you know, Mac and Sarah McKinley of the Mid States Tribe along with Donna Holaway have A Fly-In May 14-16 in Liberal Kansas to visit the museum where Max Conrad's 110LF is stored and maintained by CFF funds. Max belongs in this same realm of aviation pioneers, and we would like to invite both ICS members as well as non-members to join us in celebrating his accomplishments. See the article in the Flyer or contact Sarah at Flyingmacs@aol.com to obtain additional information.

hi Bruce, I've been to Liberal and Ken and I plan to fly-in for at least Saturday so he can see Max's plane. It is so cool.

Max flew an Aztec RTW in 1961.

I would like to add Maggie to the list, but it is not in the cards anytime soon. I would probably need to pay her off completely as I am sure that the concept would make my insurance broker crazy.

It would be nice if Russian relations improved as I would just as soon avoid the whole middle east thing.
