Steve –
I usually run 2400 rpm, 21” MP, 18 GPH and about 170-175 ktas. This is for local VFR fun, and it keeps all cylinder heads below 380 degrees ( some much less than others).
For economy, I’ll run it 2400 rpm, 16” MP, 16 GPH and get about 155-160 true. I don’t do it too often because I like going faster.
In Top Gun mode, it’s 24 square, 22 GPH and 185+ true. I love this setting but since retirement and living on a fixed income restrict this to IFR flying.
I do have GAMI’s but my big Lyc doesn’t like LOP settings, and, since it has 1600 hours TT I don’t run it at a setting that it balks at. My personal preference here.
The JPI instrument is a must have to monitor those cylinder head temps. My #4 runs hottest, and when it’s at 380 degrees the other 7 are cooler and happy little campers!
