Now the 27th of December...and I still can't raise Dale's Forum. I[m in Seattle. All other sites are normal.

Very Strange. Al Powers ICS 2978

C O F FORUM Availability

Postby Dale Vandever » Sun Dec 27, 2009 11:32 pm

Al, when I got on this morning I went to the "Hosts" Forum to determine what was going on with the selective availability.

As someone here suggested, it seemed to be a regional problem.

The problem first surfaced on 12-22 and affected a few shared servers. Most members have not been affected. The IT folks say that the outage is regional and is being caused by "Denial of service Attacks on various sites. C O F is not one of the sites, but when some servers are overloaded it affects all traffic going through that server.

I have service at this time. IT hopes to have the problems isolated and be back to full service. The attacks are intermittant.

I try to go to the delphi forum as there are a lot of posts. But I get sick from the interface. That software is crap. I can't stay there for longer than 2 minutes. Really. Don't see why they don't all come over here.

COF Value

Postby David Pyle » Mon Dec 28, 2009 3:49 pm

IMO historical and recent information is more accessible at COF. Been a busy place for ten years. Dale set it up at the request of, and to help ICS, when no other source was available.

Combe, for the time being we still live in a country with freedom of choice.

Anyone is free to go to either FORUM, or to none. Actually, most ICS members visit both sites regularly. If you are in search of information, that is a good plan.

If you visit both sites regularly, you will find the same posters on both sites and many will post the same request on both sites at the same time for maximum response. If your aircraft is AOG for parts, or you have a mechanical problem that has not been resolved, this is your best path.

Both FORUMS support the safe and efficient operation of our Comanches. They are not competitors as there is no financial motive with a free service, like COF. I go to both several times a day, as do many others. If you look below the airplane photo on the start page you will see a direct link to the ICS site. This link was established the first day that the ICS forum came on-line.

There are folders on the COF site that promote the Annual Conventions, CFF maintenance seminars, CFF Pilot proficiency Programs, etc.

You visit and post regularly and we hope you continue to find value in doing so.

Cordially,

Dale
